SASSA has officially confirmed the April 2026 payment schedule for social grants, with dates scheduled around the Easter long weekend to ensure beneficiaries receive their funds without disruption.
The payment dates fall in the first week of April, immediately following the Good Friday and Family Day public holidays on 3 and 6 April respectively.

- Disability Grant: Monday, 7 April 2026
- Child Support Grant: Tuesday, 8 April 2026
These dates also apply to Foster Child Grant, Care Dependency Grant, and War Veterans Grant beneficiaries, who are paid on the same schedule as their corresponding grant categories.
📅 Easter 2026 Context: Good Friday falls on 3 April and Family Day (Easter Monday) on 6 April, creating a four-day long weekend. SASSA has scheduled grant payments to avoid the public holiday period whilst ensuring funds are available early in the month.
What About SRD R370 Payments?
It is important to note that the dates above apply only to traditional SASSA grants. The SRD R370 grant operates on a completely different payment system.
SRD payments are not tied to the fixed schedule announced for April. Instead, they are processed in batches during the last week of each month, typically between the 22nd and 28th. Each beneficiary receives an individual payment date that is assigned after monthly eligibility verification is completed.
If you receive the SRD grant, you will not be paid on 2, 7, or 8 April. Your payment date for April 2026 will be shown when you check your status after the 20th of the month.
The SRD batch system requires beneficiaries to verify their status monthly because eligibility changes based on updated income data from SARS, UIF, NSFAS, and other databases. One month's approval does not guarantee the next.
Payment Methods and Collection
All April 2026 grant payments will be available through:
- Direct bank deposits: Funds typically reflect within 2-3 business days
- SASSA cards: Withdraw at ATMs or participating retailers
- Cash Send: Primarily for SRD beneficiaries, with SMS notification sent on payment date
